Frequent Asked Questions

If you’re considering leadership coaching, executive coaching, consultancy or one of my leadership programmes, you may have questions about how I work, who I support, and what you can expect.

Here are answers to some of the questions I’m asked most often.

What is leadership coaching?

Leadership coaching is a confidential, structured process that gives you the space to reflect on how you lead, understand your strengths and challenges, and identify ways to become more effective.

I work with leaders to develop confidence, self-awareness, and practical leadership skills. Rather than telling you how you should lead, I help you explore your options, challenge your thinking, and develop an approach that feels authentic to you.

Who is leadership coaching for?

I work with a wide range of leaders, including CEOs, founders, executives, senior leaders and professionals who are taking on greater responsibility.

You might be starting a new leadership role, navigating change, managing a growing organisation or simply wanting to become more effective in your current position. You don't need to be struggling to benefit from coaching- it can also provide valuable space for reflection and continued development.

What is executive coaching?

Executive coaching is focused on the specific challenges and opportunities that come with senior leadership.

I work with executives, CEOs and founders who need space to step back from the demands of their role, consider the bigger picture, and explore complex decisions. Executive coaching can cover areas such as leadership style, confidence, communication, decision-making, relationships, influence, and leading through change.

What does a leadership coach do?

As a leadership coach, I provide an independent and confidential space for you to think, reflect and develop.

I ask questions, challenge assumptions, offer perspective and help you identify practical ways forward. I don't provide a fixed formula for leadership because every person, role and organisation is different.

How can leadership coaching help me?

Leadership coaching can help you develop greater self-awareness, confidence, and clarity in your role. It can also support you with specific challenges such as difficult conversations, managing change, influencing others, decision-making, or stepping into a more senior position.

The areas we focus on depend on what you want to achieve.

Do you provide leadership consultancy for organisations?

Yes. I provide leadership consultancy for organisations looking to strengthen their leadership capability and improve organisational performance.

I can support organisations with leadership development, leadership training, developing emerging leaders and creating approaches that align leadership with organisational culture and objectives.

Do you work with leadership teams?

Yes. I work with leadership teams as well as individual leaders and organisations.

My team development and executive team coaching can help leadership teams improve alignment, communication, collaboration, decision-making and collective performance.

What leadership programmes do you offer?

I offer practical leadership programmes designed to help people develop confidence, self-awareness, and the skills needed to lead effectively.

My programmes include 1st Chair Energy, which explores the mindset, behaviours, and energy needed to step forward and lead. Programmes can be tailored depending on the needs of the organisation or individuals taking part.

How are your leadership programmes different from traditional leadership training?

I believe leadership development should be practical, relevant, and connected to the real challenges people face.

My programmes combine leadership development with reflection, self-awareness, and practical application. Rather than simply learning leadership theories, participants have the opportunity to consider how they lead, how their behaviour affects others, and what they can do differently.

How long does leadership coaching take?

There is no fixed number of coaching sessions that works for everyone. The length and frequency of coaching depends on your objectives, circumstances, and the level of support you need.

I can work with you on a defined programme or provide ongoing coaching over a longer period.

Is leadership coaching confidential?

Yes. Confidentiality is an important part of creating a safe environment for honest reflection and open conversations. We will establish clear expectations around confidentiality at the beginning of our work together.

Do you offer coaching online or in person?

I can work with individuals and organisations in different ways, including online coaching and in-person sessions. I can recommend the best approach for you depending on your location, objectives, and the type of work we are undertaking.

How do I know whether leadership coaching is right for me?

If you want dedicated space to reflect on your leadership, develop greater confidence, or work through a particular challenge, coaching may be useful.

You don't need to have all the answers before we begin. We can have an initial conversation about where you are now, what you want to achieve, and whether working together feels right.

If you have a question that isn't answered here, please get in touch. I'm always happy to have an initial conversation about your leadership development needs.
